Transmission problem
1968 Opel Kadett Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have an Opel three-speed transmission on an old garden tractor with a bent tailshaft. I want to remove it for machining. I've unbolted the tailshaft housing but the tailshaft wants to come out with it, pulling half the gears in the box with it and hanging up on the shift rail. Is there any way to take all of this apart? Part number for the box is 6668485 and the tailshaft housing is 6696602.
