2002 Opel Astra

Too much oil can cause damage as well as not enough. You may have caused a hydraulicing situation depending on the amount of oil you put in. When an engine hydraulics it can bend connecting rods, hurt bearings, break crankshafts ....etc. I would have a shop look at it to see what has been damaged and the best route for you to take to repair it

Remove the additional oil from the oil tank and it will be ok
