1992 Oldsmobile Toronado 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I bought a rebuilt ECM online for my 92 olds toronado. After receiving the ECM I remembered reading that 95 gm's and older must be programmed to the cars vin#. I told the company I bought it from this info and they said all I had to do was switch prom's. Is this true? I don't want to ruin my electrical system.

Yes, they are correct.95 and newer will need to be repogrammed, but your older one just needs the PROM chip swapped over.
