1998 3.4l engine running hot and loss of power. replaced thermostat but still running hot. idling real rough and white smoke coming out of exhaust. don't know if is intake or head gasket. help me please!

That sounds like a head gasket.White smoke is usually coolant, blue smoke is oil, bad intakes usually smoke blue.
