Trunk Release

I own a 2001 Olds Aurora. Trunk does not always open--either with remote or button. I can hear the click but it doesn't open every time.

The click your hearing is the solenoid in the trunk activating. This is probably a mechanical issue. Get the trunk open and look for the latching mechanism, using a fine oil such as wd-40 spray the mechanism. Open and shut the lid to work the parts and re-spray it and again open and shut it. You may want to use your key to open it and lube that lock as well to prevent it from seizing.
