Olds Aurora Stalls

I have a 1998 Olds Aurora that has started stalling when I pull up to a stop light or sign. When it is in neutral or park, it idles fine. It doesn't stall every time, but is beginning to die more and more often. If I put it into neutral when I stop, it's fine. A parts guru at our local parts store, told me about a valve or solenoid in side the transmission pan that re-routes the fluid to lock in the torque converter which fails and does not allow it to release when stopping. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, does anyone know of a relay and it's location for the internal trunk release? Mine has suddenly quit working.

I have a 1995 Aurora and it does the exact same thing yours does. Also my truck release stopped working too and my :Service Engine" light comes on at times. Please let me know if you find out what the problem is and I will do the same.

I finally broke down and took the car into a mechanic. Back in July, I changed the plugs and plug wires myself, because the GM dealer wanted 500.00 to do it for me. Evidently, I didn't pay enough attention to the routing of the wires, and routed them too close to the ignition harness. The way the mechanic explaned it to me, the pulses from the plug wires were canceling out the signal from the crankshaft position sensor, which caused the engine to quit. After he repositioned the wires, it's run fine, not even a burp. After he cleaned the throttle plate, and the Mass Airflow Sensor, and changed the fuel filter and pump assembly, the computer told him about the wiring problem. Quite an expensive lesson.
