egr valve gaskets

keeps blowing egr valve gaskets, i have replaced egr valve, what else could be causing this? vehicle is a 93 cutlas supreme with a 3.1 engine. someone suggested the catalitic convertor could that be the probem? :?

Maybe why its blowing gasket is-its open at all times. Check the vacuum at the EGR it shouldn't have vacuum at idle.
