I have a 1989 olds cutlass ciera and the cooling fan to the radiator does not turn on even when the air is on. someone told me it could be the relay but i don't know where it is. could you tell me where to find the relay. and where and how do i check the cooling fan motor if the relay is not the problem please help. when it was running the upper radiator hose never got hot, could the thermostat be bad also?

fan will work when car or engine get hot
if you dont have an overheating problem you shouldnt be checking any fan s
if the car isnt getting any heat and the upper hose is cold check thermostate and replace also if its overheating and the upper hose cold replace the thermostate and check coolant
you should have some relay s under hood on the pass side
