2002 Other Oldsmobile Models Slipping and Fluid

Transmission problem
2002 Other Oldsmobile Models 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 120000 miles

Have recently felt the transmission slipping when switching gears. Does not do it all the time. Checked fluid level and appears fine. Fluid is not red though, it is a clearer brown/orange. Don't believe fluid was ever changed. Is this fluid color normal? What can I do about the slipping?

I would change the flid and filter and hope that resolves it. The fluid should be clear and pink. Hopefully damage hasn't already been done.
