About 2 months ago, on a 4 hour trip returning home, a very noticable hesitation or stutter was happening at all speeds, always durring increasing of speeds, but also when cruise was set at 65mph on freeway. Makes the whole van jerk. Since then, and $1200 later, I still have the same problem, never fixed, but a debt for nothing. Mechanic talked me into flushing transmition, which wasnt even close to being the culprit. They took 3 days to change plugs and wires as they were having problems. Changed all plugs and wires 2 times while they had it, said first set they replaced with, they were missing 1, 3, and 5. they even tried moving plugs around, still 1, 3, and 5. Second set they had same issue, so they replaced the things all plugs connect to at top of engine near the back, then charged me another 300 for the board those connectors connect to. Sorry, dont know car part names. Finally everything was back to the same issue, they also now replaced some module and sensor, maybe knock or something. Ran thier computer to test fuel injectors, they said they all came back fine, said one could be going bad but not bad enough for the computer to pick it up. They say next step is to replace all fuel injectors, which run $120 each, and with labor looking around another $900+ !

Any suggestions to keep me from continually being scammed by the mechanic?

All lot of times it's the MAF(mass airflow) sensor at the air filter box is dirty, or defective, or the PCM ground needs to be cleaned up...RUN from this shop!
