1998 Olds. Cutlass rubbing/grinding sound from wheel-well

Hello.I have a 1998 Olds. Cutlass with 140,000 miles.

The other day I heard a rubbing/grinding sound coming from the drivers side wheel-well and could smell burning rubber.

After backing it into my garage, the Drivers side wheel suddenly dropped (lowered) by almost 2-3 inches.

Could this be a bad shock, suspension problem or wheel bearing problem? ANY theories and/or cures would be great!

Hi,
I had that happen to my 1999 Olds and this is the problem with the spring and the shock. Used one will cost about $200. I hope this helps.
