Engine oil pressure light on my wife's vehicle comes on and off. Engine is knocking. Looking for possible causes before repairing. Thank you.

check your oil level first, make sure it is properly filled, and you say you have a knock also, your pump may not be pumping the oil up to the vital parts of the engine. must have it checked to avoid major problems
