1989 Other Oldsmobile Models car dies at random

Car stalls while driving and will stall if left to sit to long tried thermostat, due to temp light coming on when it stalls no luck any help is appreciated my next step was going to be the crank position sensor as I have heard could be the problem.

Those did have problems with the crank sensors. Does it restart or do you have to wait a while?

Yes you have to wait sometimes anywhere from 15 seconds to 3-4 hours just depends I dont get it and its my only car desperate here also I have fuel at my injectors if I press on the little nozzle there plenty of spray all the time if that means anything not much a car fix-it man but I try. Thank you so much for the help.

Im very confident if you replace the crankshaft sensor this will fix your car

I hope so. And your input makes me feel better tomorrow will be the day. How hard are those to replace I am guessing chiltons manual for sure?

I just checked for the part at napa. Com and they say there is no crank position sensor confused now. Its a 1989 oldsmobile delta 88 broughm. Thanks again

3.8l? Crank position sensor is to the right of the harmonic balancer as you look at the front of the engine. You will need to remove the balancer to replace it

You better try a different parts store. There is definately a crank sensor. Look down at the harmonic balancer you will see the sensor behind and to the right of it.
