There are few reasons for the vehicle to act like this.
You could have a dirty mass air flow sensor.
The mass air flow sensor is located on the left front of the engine, part of the throttle body assembly (see diagram).
If you have dirt and debris build up on the sensor it could have drivability issues like you are experiencing.
That sensor can be cleaned to restore its performance.

Another possibility is a faulty idle air control valve. Air particles can get stuck to the internal parts of the valve. When that happens air flow gets restricted and will cause idling issue.
This is another part that can be serviced and many times that will fix the issue.
The idle air control valve is located on the throttle body.
