1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue Spark Plugs

I replaced the spark plugs in my intrigue today, I was told that the gap for the sparkplugs was .060 is this correct. If so why would the egine not run smooth afterwards when ideling seems fine when driving down the street.

Check all leads are seated correctly !
