The diagnostic code tells me that I have a cylinder 5 misfire. I replaced the pugs and wires and reset the code, but it immediateley returned. I also swapped the coil with another cylinder to see if the code changed to a misfire in another cylinder, but it still read "cylinder 5 misfire". What else could cause a misfire other than the plugs, wires, or coil?

Check the compression and injector for no.5

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad gas.
