RECENTLY THE CAR BEGAN TO THUMP HARD WHEN AT A STOP AND PUT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. AT TIMES IT ALSO SHIFTS HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SLIP AT ALL, JUST A HARD SHIFT THAT GIVES A JOLT TO THE DRIVE LINE AND ENGINE MOUNTS.
SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT THIS COULD BE THE CV JOINTS AS THEY CUSHION THE TRANSMISSION.
CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY INFO? IS IT MORE LIKELY TO BE A CV OR SOMETHING ELSE?
THANKS.

THe CV joints provide 0% cushion to the trans. Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked to make sure the trans and engine mounts are good?
