1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass engine idles rough rpm drops a litt

Engline idles rough rpm drops a little when car is on drive or park. The car is consumming more gas. Also, the car has Check engine soon light on periodically. Wha can I do to correct this problem?.

The idle issue could be the idle air control valve. Also, check for vacuum leaks. Finally, when the check engine light is on, the computer needs scanned. Most parts stores will scan them for free. Have that done and let me know what code they find.
