I have a 1994 cutlass supreme, whene driving over 30, voltage reads good, when the car coast, it stays good until it drops under 10. Someone told me it was a ground short, I changed altenator, new battery, cables, still have problem what can it be?

Hi:
Was there any change when you replaced the alt? To me it sounds like you have a bad voltage regulator. If I recall, they are built into the alt on your car. Have the voltage output checked on the alt and let me know what they find at an idle.

Also, do the headlights dim when the voltage drops on the gauge?

Joe

It sounds like you have a loose belt or the alternator is going bad. Most parts stores will check your alternator free of charge, so I recommend having that done. They can do it on the vehicle and load test it.
