1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

car sways when hitting bumps, is it the ball joints? what do I check to see what the problem is?

Chances are a ball joint will make a popping noise. I would recommend checking all steering components, specifically the tie rods.
