Car be driving then starts to idle high and low then dies and wont start back til after couple hours replace egr valve and replace fuel pump and strainer what else you think may be problem

Hi:
It sounds like a sensor, but which one is the question. Have the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store. They will most likely do it for free and it will point us in the right direction.
