1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic unk miles

i was replacing the turn signal switch and i found that there are 2 wire the go off of the wiring harness into the steering column. i got the wire spliced in and ever thing seems to work but i was wondering what those 2 wires are going to and or what they are for. one is green and one is a breize or a tanish color

Since they are two different colors, is there a reason why you feel they went to each other?
