1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Digital Speedometer

We have a 92 Olds Cutlass that has a digital speedometer that goes out intermittently. I have a number of years of electronics background and wondered if anyone had some suggestions on what I should do to troubleshoot the problem and hopefully be able to fix the problem myself. Thanks!

the problem is the dash cluster and im unaware of any fixes to the cluster you can do yoiurself.
