I seem to have a bad pulley on my water pump and the car is overheating, there also seems to be oil mixed in with the coolant. I recently had the alternator, the power steering pump, and the serpentine belt replaced. Wouldn't a bad pulley have been noted by the mechanic at that time? Or would something else cause the pulley to go bad out of nowhere?

If oil is in the coolant, then you have a head gasket leaking. As far as the waterpump pulley, they don't go bad. If there is play in it, the bearing in the pump is bad.

Let me know if you have other questions.
