Hi. My 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera has 132,000 miles....the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on at low idle. When the rpm's are increased, the light goes out. I suspect low oil pressure. Will replacing the oil pump help this? I know it's an external pump. (i've already changed the oil and filter) ? Please advise and thank you.

P.S. If you know where I can find a used tail lens for the driver's side, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again......Jason--Virginia

Hi there,

before you go changing oil pumps, have the pressure tested with a master gauge, this swill give you a true indication as to engine oil pressure, you may just have a faulty gauge or sender.
