My daughter is driving my old Olds Cutlass Cierra, 1988. Within the past few days she has had problems with it. When she first starts it up all is fine, although the idle seems high and has for months. Once she drives for about 5 to 10 minutes the car drops its idle, the check engine light comes on, and it begins to instantly want to stall. If she keeps her foot on the gas it will keep going (not very well) but it will go. It lurchs and sputters and if she comes to a complete stop with no foot on the gas it will stall, but start right back up. I was told it may be the mass air flow sensor, but Im not sure. I dont want to put a ton of money into this car and if its going to get to be to much Id rather just get her another car. Please help. Thank you.

Hi there,

The first thing you should do is identify the fault code in the ECU, get a scan and repost your findings for more advice, start here.
