1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Car sputtering and not getting up t

Everytime i hit the gas the car hesitates and finally takes off and continues to sputter and has no power at all.
I just replaced the engine and the plugs and the distributor.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked to make sure the catalytic converter isn't plugged?
