1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently replaced the fuel pump on my car and nothing happens. When I put the new one on I followed the direction to a T.There is no sound, from the pump when I tried to start it. I checked the fuses inside the car and everything is ok there. What did I do wrong? I cant figure it out for the life of me..... help me please.

Check whether the computer is energizing the fuel pump relay and check the relay itself
