1998 Oldsmobile Ciera 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my car one has a high idle and cant figure out why. the main problem now though is when i drive it will just die on me and i let it sit and it starts right back up. has been ongoing for a week now and cant figure out why. someone said it migh be my fuel pump but i can hear it prime when i turn the key.

Has the check engine light come on? Also, even though you hear the pump, it may not be able to keep up with the demand. Here is a how to for checking fuel pump pressure:
