ok. i have a 95 olds ciera sedan.2.2 4 cyl. it's an auto trans. now there is a connector on the trans located in plain site on the front top part facing the radiator. it's a 4 pin connector and where it plugs into is blue. now i figured i would plug it in for the heck of it. well i would assume it's for the overdrive gear. cause it drove great for about 4 miles after i hooked it up. then when i slowed down it never came out of overdrive. but when i pulled the shifter into 2nd gear it shifted down. so i put it back in drive and it went right back in OD. when i stopped it stalled. it acted just like a standard. since the i unplug the thing and it seems ok. so any clue on what it is exactly and if i can fix it. cause the overdrive would be really nice for inerstate drive and trip.

I believe plugging in the connector allowed the torque converter to engage by locking up at higher speeds, and then , being defective, it didn't unlock when you slowed down. I don't believe a flush would fix this, I'm not a tranny expert, you should probably call a shop to check how they fix this, probably a new torque converter is in order. Or you can just drive it without the lock-up torque converter feature. One more note, that car with the 2.2 liter only comes with a three-speed transaxle. P.S. For what it's worth anyone, am interested in purchased a ciera/century with this engine (2.2).
