Two symptoms: 1) About 3 weeks ago it started to act up. When going up a slight grade the engine would speed-up and slow-down at about 1 second interval. I think that it was shifting from 4th gear to 3rd gear, back and forth. 2) Yesterday on the freeway on a long trip it seemed like the engine was running fast. I dropped the transmission from OD to D and no change in engine sound. I was consuming more gas than normal. I stopped for gas and tested the OD to D again. This time it worked. Later in the trip the engine was running fast again and the OD to D test failed. I need help in getting this resolved, answered and someone to walk me through the fix. Thanks

Hi
Transmission is slipping due to worn clutches and/or seals. Check fluid level and color is it pink/red or brown to black? You may want to take to a trans repair shop for diagnosis and est. Of repair.
Sorry I have no silver bullet
Let me know
Thanks for donate

It is my understanding that the problem is not in the transmission itself, but in the control of it. Something to do with the control. Perhaps a sensor that is not receiving the right data or some other intermittant problem. Please review my original symptoms and get back to me. Thanks, John

Yes I have and the symptoms do not indicate soleniod fault. You can have the trans checked for function and pressure tests. What color is the fluid?

Sorry I didn't include the color of trans fluid, it is pink, but seems to have black particles on some areas of the dip stick. I will follow up with a checkup, thanks.

Black specks indicate clutch material. When you get test results post and will advise.

Mine does the same thing, for some reason if you can keep the temp gauge at or under the mark between 100 and 220 you wont loose o/d, I think its a pressure problem when the tranny fluid is hot and thin, took me a while to figure it out
