it has a coolant leak. i found a hole in a metal line that comes from the water pump, but thats not the whole prob. it seems to be squirting water from somewhere @ the back of the engine. It over heated today and I let it cool down & put coolant back in, now the temp gauge doesn't work & the heater doesn't get hot. I'm stumped!

It sounds like there is an air pocket stoping the coolant. Have you tried bleeding the system?

As far as the leaks, I would recommend pressure testing the system to see where the leak behind the engine is coming from. It could be a heater core hose, freeze plug...

Let me know.
