This car runs very well for a 17 year old vehicle, but the one thing that worries me is that every time I put the vehicle in drive or reverse, it kicks/slams into gear and the car wants to lurch forward. Takes off and shifts completely smooth though. I'm assuming this is a transmission problem... I checked the trans. fluid level and it was fine. What is wrong, and should I be worried about this?

If the trans is working fine, I would start by checking motor and transmission mounts. One could be bad.

Check them and let me know what you find.
