1986 Oldsmobile Ciera slipping transmission

I have a 1986 Olds cutlass ciera,after replacing fluid and filter ,the car sat for 3 yrs,now its having trouble shifting at about 30 -45 mph,is there a adjustment needed for the bands in the transmission, ???

How dirty was the old trans fluid? Over the years, was it serviced on a regular basis? Is the trans slipping?
