1984 Oldsmobile Ciera Water pump replacement

2.5 liter engine. The water pump connects to a housing which is connected to the block. I can't remove the bolts to the water pump but I can remove the bolts to the housing and take the whole works out. Is that what I have to do to replace the water pump?
