Driving down the highway during a my recent vacation about 70mph in cruise control I stepped on the brake and the front end began thumping loudly I drove the to the next exit the car was thumping the whole way (about a mile) after setting long enough to get directions to the nearest repair shop I started driving again and the thumping sound was gone i decided to drive all the way home. I have noticed now every time i turn a corner the car makes a clicking sound and occasionally on the highway it would make a bang sound. any ideas about what this would be would be greatly appreciated

The clicking makes me believe it is a bad CV joint. Have you checked that?
