Do you have a check engine light?
When it refuses to start-immediatel check the fuel pressure and look for spark this will narrow it down is to where its coming from.

The only check engine light that came on was for the vapor recovery system the first time I replaced the fuel pump I busted the single rubber line on the gas tank that goes into a black plug towards the front of the suv in the tank and have sinced repaired it and light went off and some times there is fuel pressure when it wont start and sometimes there isnt

I am about to replace mine in the morning on a 2000 Olds Bravada. In all that I have read. I have been told to use either the Bosch or the AC Delco replacement as the others seem to have a high failure rate. I don't know if that is what you are using but it seems to be a consensus.
