Over heating. Replaced thermostat. Still overheating. Took out thermostat and ran. Still overheating. Water pump 3yrs old. Radiator 2yrs old. No major leaks visible. No water in oil. Engine clanks alot when starting. White smoke comming out tail pipe. Help!!

White smoke out the tailpipe and clanking sounds are not good. Sounds like a blown head gasket and possibly internal engine damage due to hydro-lock. I would run a pressure test and pull the plugs to check for water in a cylinder. Also check for combustion gas in the coolant.
