Engine problem
1997 Oldsmobile Bravada Engine Size unknown All Wheel Drive Automatic 110000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
While driving, the engine goes into racing and will not stop. The rpm goes to around 3500. We tried disconnecting the battery to reset the computer but this did not help. The gas pedal is not sticking.

Check the computer for any codes.

Maybe a vacuum leak going to the intake.

The 3400 motors have a bad problem with intake manifold gasket leaks.

You may have the same problem I had last year with my 97. If you remove the plastic air filter intake right over the throttle body, look at the butterfly valve. Push it open, right underneath the front side of it is (or should be) another attachment that looks like a half moon. Is yours loose? Mine was completely ripped off when I discovered it.
Your bravada acts like mine did before it completely came off and ran full throttle. Change the part (not the entire throttle body) and your problem may be fixed.
