This has been a reoccuring problem lately. The car does one of two things:

1. It will shift just fine through the first gear but not through 2nd and 3rd. When it gets up to where it should shift, I can feel it bogg down. When this happens, the RPM's stop rising almost all together and the speed goes up very, very slowly; even if I have the pedal to the floor. Usually when this particular problem happens, if I park the car for a while and turn it off (say, 20 mins?) it runs normally again when I start it back up.

or (the other problem)

2. The check engine light comes on and it will not shift out of first gear at all until I change a fuse that for some reason continues to blow on a regular basis these days. When I change the fuse, the car works normally again for a while, and then the problem described in (1) begins happening again.

I don't know what could be causing this to keep happening! Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
