TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED BY DEALER 7 MONTHS AGO AND SAME PROBLEMS ARE REOCCURING, ERRATIC DOWN SHIFT, HIGH LINE PRESSURE AND HARD UPSHIFTS AND MOST OF THE TIME NO UPSHIFT FROM 2-3RD. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS SHUT DOWN FOR 2 OR 3 HOURS AND RE DRIVEN TRANS SHIFTS OK UNTIL OF COURSE IT DECIDES TO GO WACKY AGAIN WHICH CAN BE WITHIN 1-40 MILES OF DRIVING. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER AND THEY STATE THAT THEY FIRST HAVE TO REPAIR INJECTORS 1 AND 3 WHICH ARE SOMETIMES MISFIRING CAUSING ENGINE CODES THAT MAY BE CAUSING TRANS TO ACT UP. I THINK ITS A BUNCH OF HOG WASH TO CHARGE ME $200.00 TO COMPENSATE FOR WARRANTED TRANS REPAIRS. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE ENGINE MISFIRES THAT ARE NOT EVEN FELT WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION FAILING AS IT DOES. DO YOU THINK THAT THIS IS TRUE BECAUSE I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE. ON ANOTHER SUBJECT THE OBD STATES LOW ENGINE COOLANT EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE AND EVEN SOMETIMES AFTER 2 OR 3 HOURS OF DRIVING EXCEPT THAT THE RADIATOR AND THE RECOVERY TANK IS FULL TO SPEC. IS THERE A SENSOR THAT MAY BE FAULTY AND IF SO WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
THANK YOU

Well, they are not totally coming out of left field about the injectors, your car may be going in to limp mode and thus the transmission is acting strange. Does the check engine light come on when this is happening?

And yes, you most likely have a coolant level sensor in the overflow tank.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES COME ON IMMEDIATELY AS SOON AS THE TRANSMISSION ACTS UP, THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AT ANY OTHER TIME WHILE THE TRANNY IS WORKING NORMALLY. I HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE BODY AND THE TRANNY WORKED FINE FOR 4 MONTHS AFTER WHICH IT STARTED WITH THE EXACT SAME SYMTOMS. WHINNING NOISE AND HIGH LINE PRESSURE WHICH CAUSES HARD TRANSMISSION UPSHIFT KICKS ARE NOT DUE TO ENGINE MISFIRES. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT MY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM CAN BE ADDRESSED INDEPENDANTLY AT THIS TIME WITHOUT HAVING TO SPEND $200 ON INJECTOR MISFIRES, DON'T YOU AGREE.

If it's only been 4 months since you had your transmission worked on by the dealer, then it should be under warranty.

Take it back to them and have them fix it.

LET ME EXPLAIN, I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE DURING WHICH TIME THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE EXPIRED BUT THE DEALER GAVE ME A WARRANTY ON THE TRANS OF 1 YEAR OVER AND ABOVE THE EXPIRED EXTENDED WARRANTY IN CASE ANYTHING WAS TO HAPPEN. SINCE I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATION I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT TRIGGERED IT BEFORE I WOULD TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FRIEND WHO PULLED OUT 3 TRANS FAILURE CODES. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER INFORMING THEM THAT THE WARNING LIGHT WAS TRIGGERED BY THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS- THUS CODES- AND THEY SAID THAT THOSE CODES WHERE IN HISTORY AND THAT FIRST THEY HAVE TO DIAGNOSE MISFIRING CODES ON CYLIDER 1 AND 3 BEFORE THEY COULD SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $100 PER HOUR AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE THEIR TECH 2 HOURS TO DO THIS. I TOLD THEM JUST TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID THAT I NEED TO REPAIR THE MISFIRE FIRST BECAUSE THAT MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS HOGWASH TO GET $200 PLUS PARTS AND LABOR=PROBABLY $5-600 DEALER COST TO COVER THE TRANNY REPAIR WHICH THEY SHOULD BE HONORING. THE ENGINE RUNS SMOOTH AND SHOWS NO INDICATION OF ANY MISFIRING SO I DONT BUY THIS STORY. TAKING THE CAR BACK IS NOT THE ISSUE AS YOU CAN SEE.

1st you don't have to do the work at the dealer
find an independent local shop as they may help you for less $$$
know this is where we will not agree as yes they are correct as far as misfiring codes
engine misfire have and should be fixed 1st before any other repair to a tranny or any other codes
(if the horse is sick and have a broken leg can not pull the carriage )

Coolant level switch is in the coolant surge tank
check it and clean it some time its dirt

STEVEHNDZ, my 2001 Aurora (130,000miles) has exactly the same issue. Did ever have this repaired. What needed to be done?
