1998 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

At speeds of 30 MPH or above the car makes a roaring noise. Could this be the water pump? The sound is too loud for tires.

No, it's not your water pump. That would get louder as the engine revs higher, not as the car's speed increases.

This sounds like your wheel bearing. It sounds like an airplane engine ready for take off.

You need to have that replaced as soon as possible. I've seen entire wheels pop off on people as they roll down the highway. You don't want this to happen to you.
