Upon accelerating I notice a poping or backfiring sound coming from the engine compartment.What can be the remedy to fix it?

if it's a true popping sound then it could be a valve train problem, which means cam lifter , pushrod, etc. It could also be a vacuum leak. Have someone look at it.
