Noises problem
2003 Oldsmobile Alero 111000 miles

It sounds like a fan when I'm in my car, but when I open my hood, it seems like the noise is coming from inside the engine block. Any guesses as to how serious/expensive this could be? I haven't had any overheating issues or any other problems other then the noise.

Hi:
Based on your description, it sounds like you are getting lifter noise. I believe they are adjustable, so see your mechanic and discuss it with him. Make sure your oil is clean and full with the proper weight oil and use a quality oil filter.

Let me know if this helps.

NOTE: There is a blower motor fan under the passanger side dashboard. Is it possible the noise could be coming from there?
