2001 Oldsmobile Alero Does not accelerate. Transmission fe

01, Olds Alero. Engine seems to run correctly but when you push to accelerate rpm's go up but transmission seems to be dragging. It does shift between gears and each gear does work. Service Engine Soon light has come on.

Hi:
If the check engine light is on, there is a trouble code stored in the computer. Take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free.
