2001 Oldsmobile Alero body control module

i was told by gm dealer the body control module was bad and my question is can i buy a used module to replace it or does it need to be a new one

actually you can only buy a new one because once a bcm is programmed to that vehicle it becomes locked,what that means is the bcm can only be programmed 1 time to the vehicle it's in,if you try and reprogramm it,it will not accept a 2nd programm.these older style bcm's are designed like this.post back with any other questions.
