I was just wondering why my car would be idling at 800 rpms when you are at a stop and it shakes back and forth it idles so low it sounds like it is going to die but does not die when the car is going it does just fine it only happens when you are at a stop plus when the car is shakeing and wobbleing it smells like gas really bad

Hi:
Has the check engine light ever come on? If so, have it scanned at a nationally recognized parts store. Most will do it for free, and it will help identify the problem.

Also, to me it sounds like a throttle position sensor (TPS) or an idle air control valve (IAC).

Have it scanned and let me know what you find.

Joe
