1999 Oldsmobile Alero 4 cyl Automatic 127000 miles

my son lost his key.when car was purchased was given 2 keys.1 for door,1 to start car.had a replacement made,very hard to turn in lock.does this key need to be programed to car?

Yes it need to be programed if you have a factory security system.
