Hello,
I am at my witts end. I am a do it yourselfer with decent automotive knowlege. My wifes car died on the way home and would not start. I was able to get it to turn over and start but ran very badly and seemed to be out of time. If I give it any gas at all it would die. I checked the sensors and found a bad cam sensor and crank sensor, the one behind the balancer. I replaced them, no change. I checked oil pressure and had none. I pulled the engine and replaced the oil pump, rod and mainn bearings, timing components, etc. I was able to get 50 lbs of oil pressure on the engine stand with a drill running the oil pump. I reinstalled the engine and was able to get it to start but it runs just the same as it did before. Also, while cranking the engine the gauges all peg and the trunk pops open. Any ideas?

Thanks for your response. I can get the car to start and run for a few minutes at a time(runs very badly). Do you have any further thoughts?

Have you checked timing? If you remove the plugs, what condition are the plugs in?
