Olds has the 3100 v6. Starting weird a while back sounded like a bad battery weak roll then a fire. Went to parts store put on comp battery fine alt fine #5 was misfiring. Hasnt had a tune up in a while so new plugs and wires. Driving around town go to get on highway come up ramp hit gas car dies. Pull it back to my house will start and run for about 2 minutes with peddal floored but only hits about 2400rpm. Replaced 2/5 spark pack. Nothing. Replace ignition module, nothing. All mechanics ideas so far. Any help would be appreciated.

When it runs for 2 minutes, is there any smoke from the exhaust? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Also, the 3.1L has a history of having bad intake gaskets. Have you checked for leaks?

When it would run for that short time it was blowing verry little dark smoke also I just had my intake manifold gasket replaced. The fuel pressure is only at around 10 lbs (should be 40 -45) but it wont start with starting fluid.

The fuel pressure is one of the problems. It needs to be near 45lbs. Is the fuel filter plugged?

Have replaced fuel filter. Think I might have pinched the line because why would I not be getting it to fire when im spraying starting fluid into the throttle body?

I have to agree. If you are using starting fluid and it won't start, then it isn't getting spark or there is a timing issue.

The anti theft device stops the gas flow to the fuel injectors. It will run for a few seconds and then stop. When the Antitheft device is tripped you must keep key in ingition in acc postition or on for 15 min untill dashboard light stops blinking. Then start the car.
